Snakes

Have you ever been scared of a harmless little spider? Almost everyone has. It's the same with snakes. Most people are scared of snakes before they ever see one in real life. Psychologist have discovered why this is. They believe the reason we are automatically scared of snakes and spiders is due to a innate tendency humans have to sense them. They believe humans obtained this trait to survive in the wild.

Once Again... Water on Mars!

Recently there was an ancient lake found on Mars that could have once had living creatures. One of NASA's orbiters captured the images (top left). Still, there is no evidence that there is, or ever was, life on Mars. I myself like to believe there is. It would be a huge scientific breakthrough to find life on Mars.

I See What You See

Today technology is so advanced scientist have come upon the possibility of seeing what someone else is seeing. And possibly, seeing someones dream. I think this is amazing. With the large number of new technology out there today, and the large number of things these technologies allow us to do, it's almost unbelievable. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with this new discovery. Do you think it is wrong to see peoples dreams?

Digital Versatile Disc

Recently in South Carolina, a firefighter by the name of Barry McRoy was leaving a waffle house on a Saturday morning. At the same time two men were coming in "fighting over a gun" and the gun went off. The bullet hit one of the men fighting over the gun then shattered a window and then hit McRoy. McRoy didn't even notice that he had been hit, until he noticed the whole in his jacket, the shattered DVD case, and a piece of the bullet. The only injury McRoy suffered was a bruise.
"I was saved by a DVD, how lucky can you get?"-Barry McRoy after the incident.

South African Killers

Monday South Africa stated that they would start killing elephants due to their growing numbers. I highly disagree with this. Even though an environment minister said there will be no "wholesale slaughter" I disagree. There should be a better solution thought of than just killing them. These once nearly extinct animals were saved by South Africa, now they are being killed by South Africa for their growing numbers. Elephants are one of the most intelligent and self-aware creatures Earth. We shouldn't kill them just because there is a high number of them.

Indian Tigers

The Indian government plans to start a new $13 million special ranger force to protect it's endangered tigers. In a five year span the tiger population has went from 3,600 to 1,411. The main focus of protection will be for poachers. That is the tiger's biggest threat. I think it is great that this force is going to be started. We should try to keep amazing creatures such as this around for as long as we can. Though I do think $13 million is a bit much. It should be able to happen for $0.

The Army's Med. System is Failing Soldiers

Recently a man by the name of Gerald Cassidy died. He didn't die from natural causes either. It was an "accident" according to the 12-page autopsy. But it doesn't seem that way. When Cassidy returned back to the states he was complaining because of headaches and other similar problems. The Army sent him to the doctor but they were unable to make room for him in the pain-mangement clinic. They just kept giving him different medicines to numb the pain. But the pain did not go away all together. It was getting worse. Eventually it got to the point where he couldn't take it anymore and pleaded for help. All he got after his plead was more medication. Methadone, a powerful narcotic. The following day Cassidy's wife tried to call his cell phone but never got an answer. Two more days and she finally called the Army to find her husband and he was found. Dead, slumped in his chair near his computer. The drug methadone, along with other drugs perscribed by the doctors were found as part of the cause of death. It seems the Army just tried to blow him off with pain killers, and ended up killing one of their own.
